The Southold Yacht Club is a small family-oriented, private club open to all who have a love of sailing and our beautiful waterways. Set on one+ acre of land with 200ft of beachfront on Southold Bay, the club is located on North Parish Drive, just over the Goose Creek Bridge.

Founded in 1933 and incorporated in 1938, Southold Yacht Club has been a focal point for sailing and boating on Long Island's North Fork for over 70 years. The culture of the club is friendly and casual. Costs are kept low as members actively participate on the board of govenors and important commitees. SYC is seasonal with activities scheduled from Memorial Day to Columbus Day. During July and August it operates an excellent Junior Sailing Program for children from 7 to 17 years of age. Many have become outstanding sailors, and some have participated in National, North American and World's Championships. More important is the emphasis on safety and a life long love of sailing.

SAILING SCHOOL

SYC's Junior Sailing Program is one of the best, most comprehensive junior sailing programs available anywhere. Twelve hours a week of instruction are offered for eight weeks during July and August with excellent student/instructor ratios. Our children learn the beauty and fun of sailing, and for those interested, racing skills are nurtured to a high degree. Southold Yacht Club sailors have consistently placed highly in area regattas and some have scored well in national championships. Our instructors are extremely well qualified to teach sailing skills, always emphasizing safety.

If you are looking for a fun family-oriented club, a place for your children to learn to sail, we invite you to join the Southold Yacht Club. Cameraderie, the friends made, and the friendships shared are what we cherish most about the club. The costs are nominal and the rewards maximal.

ACTIVITIES

On weeknights and weekends throughout the summer the club schedules races. SYC hosts two annual regattas: The World's Longest Sunfish Race Around Shelter Island and the Carol Smith Regatta for midget and junior sailors. Periodically it hosts major regattas such as the New York State Sunfish Youth Championships. The club also provides a wide range of social activities, including barbecues, picnics, ladies nights, cocktail parties, and the annual Commodores Dinner.

THE CLUB HOUSE

Southold Yacht Club consists of a one-room clubhouse with a kitchen and snack bar, lavatory facilities, a fenced in storage area for small boats, a ramp for dinghys, and a shaded picnic area with a sensational view of Southold Bay. Swimming is accessible from our beautiful beach, and supervised swimming is convenient at the adjacent public beach and playground.
