Congratulations to SYC's Julia Oak who was a member of the St. Georges team that won the ISSA National Team Racing Championship (Baker Trophy).  The races were held at the Lake Minnetonka Sailing School May  24-25. St. Georges sailed a terrific championship round, thoroughly dominating the racing with a perfect 6-0 Championship Round. We look forward to personally congratulating Julia when she arrives in Southold in June!

SOUTHOLD YACHT CLUB OFFERS SAILING SCHOLARSHIPS

The Southold Yacht is once again offering two sailing scholarships in the memory of Anthony Couloucoundis II. Boys and Girls in Southold Town between the ages of seven and fifteen are eligible.

Scholarship applicants must write a letter of 100 words explaining why he or she would like to learn to sail, and should convey "the zest for life" that characterized Anthony Couloucoundis. Entries will be judged on the basis of originality, sincerity and content.

Two applicants, one girl and one boy, will be selected to receive sailing instruction over the months of July and August. In addition the families of the winners will receive complimentary family membership in the Southold Yacht Club for the 2008 season. A total value of over $900.00 each.

All entries must be received by May 31st, 2008. Please include the name and contact address and telephone number of the applicant on the entry.
